Madeira Palace Hotel, Madeira

In light of the new functional requirements of the structural elements, a series of surveys and diagnostic works were carried out on the main building of the Madeira Palace Hotel, as part of a study and an eventual structural reinforcement project.

Since deficiencies were detected in the reinforced concrete beams, the project adopted reinforcement solutions by installing both carbon fibre laminates and metal sheets in order to ensure higher resistance capabilities.

During construction work, it became apparent that the concrete columns and slabs were in need of repair given the advanced state of degradation and detachment of some of the material components. Non-shrink repair mortar and high-performance micro-concrete were used to restore their original shape.
