The intervention focused on treating and repairing water infiltrations affecting various concrete elements within the technical facilities and services at the Aveiro Forum complex. The infiltrations were located in the loading/unloading dock, the freight elevator, storage areas, and the access ramp to the east-side parking area.

Among the anomalies initially detected were: visible water infiltrations in the loading/unloading dock, observed on the concrete wall separating the commercial area from the adjacent cemetery; moisture on the walls of the freight elevator shaft at level -2, caused by infiltration through a construction joint; dampness on the parking access ramp originating from adjacent green spaces; and water infiltration affecting the storage areas of the "Salsa" retail store.

Steps and techniques used

The methods applied for treating and repairing the various water infiltrations can be summarized as follows:

• Crack sealing through polyurethane resin injection;
• Capillary waterproofing of concrete: removal of the existing surface coating by water jet stripping and application of cement-based mortar for capillary waterproofing of the concrete;
• Treatment of expansion joints: removal of existing materials, repair of deteriorated or delaminated concrete with cement-based mortar, installation of a water-stop profile along the joint, followed by sealant application.
